FIRSTBANK PROMOTES CROSS BORDER PAYMENTS IN SUB SAHARA AFRICA WITH FIRST GLOBAL TRANSFE

First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s premier and leading financial inclusion services provider, has announced the launch of First Global Transfer (FGT) to promote international transfer of funds across its subsidiaries in sub-Saharan Africa. The Bank’s subsidiaries in Africa include FBNBank DRC, FBNBank Ghana, FBNBank Gambia, FBNBank Guinea, FBNBank Sierra-Leone, FBNBank Senegal.

The First Global Transfer (FGT) initiative is specifically designed to ensure safe, timely and improved efficiency in the transfer of funds across the network of FirstBank subsidiaries in Africa. The FGT is not restricted to FirstBank and FBNBank Customers alone but it is also open to every individual resident in the country the funds transfer is originating from.

Intending users of the initiative are to visit any of the Bank’s branches in Nigeria or subsidiaries in Africa, which are: FBNBank DRC, FBNBank Ghana, FBNBank Gambia, FBNBank Guinea, FBNBank Sierra-Leone, or FBNBank Senegal to enjoy the service. For example, with First Global Transfer, individuals and customers in Sierra-Leone can walk into any FBNBank branch to send money to FirstBank customers in Nigeria as well as FBNBank customers in Gambia, Ghana, DR Congo, Senegal or Guinea.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, CEO, FirstBank said “today’s customer is influenced by the technological advancement shaping businesses across various industries and our First Global Transfer (FGT) initiative is one of those advancement created to impact every individual in our host community in Africa, whilst promoting the ease and swift transfer of money from one country to another for business or personal activities.”

The first phase was a morning clean-upconducted by staff of the Bank on Wednesday,3 June
2026, along Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. The exercise mobilised employees to
clear waste, sensitise residents on proper disposal practices, and reinforce the Bank’s culture of
community service and environmental stewardship.
Thesecondphase,onThursday,4June2026,featuredawaterwaysclean-upattheFalomo
Waterways, Ikoyi, Lagos, executed in collaboration with the Lagos Waste Management Authority
(LAWMA)andtheLagosStateWaterwaysAuthority(LASWA).Thejointeffortfocusedon
removingmarinedebris,promotingcleanerwaterways,andsupportingtheState’sbroader
climate-resilience agenda.
Speakingontheinitiative,DameDr.AdaoraUmeoji,OON,GroupManagingDirector/CEOof

    ComputerCentretoBamainaAcademy,Dutse,JigawaState.Itstransformativeinterventionsincludefullyequipped

    Strive Conference empowers over 2,000 adolescents with life skills and leadership training.

Zenith Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Engr. Mustafa Bello as the Chairman of its Board of
Directors.Theappointment,whichtakesimmediateeffect,hasbeenapprovedbytheCentralBankof
Nigeria (CBN) and ratified by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting held on May 5, 2026.
Engr.Bello’sappointmentrepresentsastrategicsteptoensurethecontinuity,stability,andsustained
effectivenessoftheBoard,whilereinforcingthehighstandardsofcorporategovernance,regulatory
compliance,andstrategicoversightforwhichZenithBankiswidelyrespected.HejoinedtheBoardof
Zenith Bank Plc on 29 December 2017 and has served on several Board committees, including the Board
Audit and Compliance Committee, Board Governance, Nomination and Renumeration Committee and as
Chairman of theBoard RiskManagementCommitteeuntilhisappointmentasChairmanof theBoardof
Directors.

GCFR,whereheledthedevelopmentofNigeria’sWTO-consistentTradePolicy.Healsooversawthe
CorporateAffairsCommission(CAC)onlineprojectof2002,whichmodernisedthewaybusinesses
registerandoperateinthecountry.FromNovember2003toFebruary2014,heservedasExecutive
Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Investments Promotion Commission (NIPC), where
hewasinstrumentalinattractingforeigndirectinvestmentintoNigeria,buildingmultilateralandbilateral
partnerships, and representing the Federal Government at international conferences and missions.
HegraduatedfromAhmaduBelloUniversity(ABU),Zaria,in1978withaB.Engr.inCivilEngineering
(SecondClassUpperDivision),winningtheShellPrizeforthebestprojectandthesisintheFacultyof
Engineering.HebeganhiscareerwiththeNigerianArmy’sDirectorateofQuarteringandEngineering
Service from 1978 to 1979, before joining the Niger State Housing Corporation as a Senior Civil Engineer
from 1980 to 1983.
HeiscurrentlytheChairmanofInvest-in-NorthernNigeriaLimited,aspecialpurposevehicleforthe
economic and social transformation of the Northern Nigerian economy, and has previously served on the
boards of Eskom Holdings Limited of the Republic of South Africa (2004 to 2008) and FrieslandCampina
WAMCO Nigeria Plc as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of
Engineers and a Registered Member of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) as
well as Fellow of the Academy of Natural Sciences & Engineering in Nigeria (ANSEN).
